 19th ANNUAL CONFERENCE

Our 19th Annual Conference was a tremendous success!  A sell-out crowd of more than 500 family members, teachers, and professionals gathered at The Log Cabin in Holyoke to learn about the most current information and gain insight into those affected by autism.

Dr. Jed Baker spoke about social skills training and positive behavioral supports for students with Autism, Asperger’s, and other social communication problems.  Dr. Baker is an award winning author of four books on social skills training and has written numerous articles.  ABC News and Nightline have featured his work to reduce bullying and increase peer acceptance of students with autism spectrum disorders in the schools.

John Elder Robison, author of Look Me In The Eye, gave the audience an insight about how he overcame his limitations to lead a successful life.  He offered his keen insights about growing up on with Asperger’s during a time when the diagnosis simply didn’t exist, and with no inkling of how to pass as normal.

We would like to extend a heart-felt thank you to our donors, sponsors, and advertisers for their generous contributions and commitment to making this event so successful.  A very special thank-you goes to Doug Cote (one of our “dads”) and Quebecor World Eusey Press for the beautiful brochures. Doug put countless hours into laying out the brochure content and advertisements.  He said it was “an act of love” and it showed. As we continue to grow as an organization, the partnerships we have with our sponsors are vital to our success, and truly appreciated.
