Cecile’s Gagnon's story may seem remarkable.But those in the Specialized Home Care community know it’s not.In fact, they know that transformations like Cecile’s happen all the time.

Cecile’s younger years were spent in an institution, the old Belchertown State School.After an historic lawsuit shuttered the facility and forced statewide reforms in the treatment of people with developmental disabilities, Cecile spent the next decades with her family, then in a nursing home, where the days, and years, eventually ran together.

That was then.

Today, because of Specialized Home Care, Cecile lives with her care provider in Southwick.Both experience the fun, the challenges, and the quiet times a shared living experience can mean.Helicopter rides.Red Sox games.Shopping at the mall.Vacations with her care provider and her family.Big things.Little things.All the things that mean the difference between existing . . . and living.
